I love the randomness and the casual 'I bought a car this morning' being secondary to the importance of turning a sock heel 😂

For the record I have done nothing all day other than finished reading an annoying 99p kindle romance.

Equally as challenging but much less satisfying to buy a car! Reading all day sounds great! I am currently trying to decide what to eat for tea.

PS I’ve done the gusset! 😉

I have so much admiration (and envy) for people who can crochet something (other than a square) and can knit something (other than a matinee jacket or small girls cardigan) - it is just beyond me and as for using more than two needles ! I do however make a very good chocolate chip and cherry cake.

I do love the sound of a chocolate chip and cherry cake!

'Gusset' since when did socks have gussets? Have I missed something here are we still talking about socks?

Oh yes, your new car what is it?

Nothing wrong with a matinee jacket or a small girls cardigan 🙂 I can knit but haven't made anything at all ambitious for years

It was news to me too! Kind of triangle bit on the side after you’ve turned the heel so you can knit along the foot.

Car is new to me - a VW Polo. It was the first time I’ve ever bought one completely on my own.

Well I never - gusset - it's a great word anyway!

My sister drives a Polo and is really happy with it

Mine was frustrating. They all live in an English village near Salisbury ... yet the child has completed 5 weeks of school during the 3rd week of August which is the same time the main character finds out she is pregnant- fast forward 5 months and it is the start of winter 😂

My mum would have called the holes 'spuds or potatoes'  - random word for a hole - anyway, they are always in the heel, so he obviously walks very heavily to one side.

My mum used to have one of those wooden mushroom things for socks.

I finished my first ever sock! I am so ridiculously proud, I might have to wear it to bed! 😉

very true - but I would love to be able to use four needles, even to do cables on jumpers but I am a plain, purl type of knitter although can do a bit of psso, sl st etc., but only with a pattern telling me lol.

Honestly, I thought the same but I followed a ‘Sockalong’ tutorial and used a circular needle. If you wanted to do it I bet you could.

Well you have 'almost' inspired me to have a look at that young Froglet - 'almost' being the operative word 🤣

I really need to know - have you finished the other sock yet?

Very little happening here (still hiding from this ridiculous heat) - have had a bit of a go at the old TDL - I keep 'tweaking' things - really need to stop doing that!

Mr S is busy making a repair to our upstairs loo cistern - we had a leak 🤦‍♀️ new parts ordered sharpish, can't be doing with flushing with a bucket!

Well I did read if you have trouble sleeping in this heat you should put some socks in the freezer then slip them on- apparently cooling your feet this way helps 😃

I freeze my hot water bottle which helps too.

You could do it I’m sure. I’m about a third of the way through the next sock. I have discovered though that you can get candy cane yarn which knits socks that are red, green and white stripes - I’m very tempted!

I haven’t done loads - some tidying, made soup And the veggie mixture for the inside of some samosas which I decided to have a go at.

Oh I love samosas!

Have just been chatting on the phone with a friend for over an hour which was just lovely

Think I am about to write today off as yet another day with nothing much achieved

Well my day started well... I was in the 'office' at 8.50 ready to crack on with TDL...........  9.05 daughter arrives with the baby, and the day went to pot!

We had an impromptu  socially distanced 'pool party' with my friend a few doors down who looks after her grandson.  We had a lovely morning at it was good to see the two babies socialising as they should  (10mths and 7mths).  The two mums are best friends too- it was so nice to be 'almost' normal.

Days like today make me feel a bit more positive about the future.  I still sometimes think it's all like a bad dream.

Easiest to do.  I have a espresso machine so that's what I used, but don't see why this couldn't work

Oh, I shall try that on Wednesday, my daughter coming over again and we miss our coffees out. 😁

I made one where you frothed up a small amount of instant coffee mixture for about 5mins with a small whisk and poured over milk and ice cubes.

Note; I  may have made my 'pool party' sound a bit posh- I should add it was a kiddies small  blow up paddling pool party 🤣

The best kind! Thanks for the recipe Panders. I don’t drink coffee but love coffee flavoured things and this sounds tasty. I’m going to start some lemonade tonight so it’s all chilled for tomorrow evening.
