AnonyMouse_65400 Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Hi, anyone settling two year olds and doing a baseline on them,is this what you call it after 6 weeks or do you call it something else ? We use tapestry ! Many thanks
AnonyMouse_64776 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 We do a baseline after two weeks if they are coming in for a few days per week. After 6 weeks we do our first half term tracker.
AnonyMouse_39998 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 We do a baseline after two weeks if they are coming in for a few days per week. After 6 weeks we do our first half term tracker. we do pretty much the same, but our baseline is done with the parent's input, when they start, even when they say "oh yes! you can have a whole conversation with them" and it turns out you can't lol I record mine in red pen on the tracking sheet and then do my own assessment after 6 weeks.
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 We use parent information to create an 'on Entry' tapestry baseline, asking parents to assess against the 'What to expect when' doc, but only the relevant age band, our last ofsted inspector said we needed 'starting points' from day 1 (again depends on the inspector I expect), we then update progress at the end of each half term, we're trialling giving up on the statements and only assessing with bands/refinements. 1
AnonyMouse_25678 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 We baseline using Tapestry - ideally within 2-3 weeks but depends how many sessions a child attends and how well they have settled. I am interested in the suggestion we should start with a baseline on day one - may look at a system to obtain parents information - we currently have an 'All about me' form which I pinched off here but I don't think it is specific enough to create a baseline.
AnonyMouse_73 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Just remember that at some point between 2 and 3 you must do a 2 yr progress check. This is a statutory assessment. What it looks like is pretty much up to you, but it's a good opportunity to discuss child's progress with parents before completing a written summary.
AnonyMouse_39602 Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Can I ask how you all do your baseline assessments on Tapestry ?
FSFRebecca Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Can I ask how you all do your baseline assessments on Tapestry ? I wasn't sure if you meant 'how?' philosophically or 'how?' literally! If it was the latter then here's a handy tutorial for you! Tapestry Baselines 1
