AnonyMouse_25331 Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Hi folks, I've just been made aware that a parent has shared photos from their child's Tapestry journal and added them to Facebook! Although it only shows their child, I feel uncomfortable about this!! Have a missed a setting somewhere that would prevent this? or do I need to make it clear to parents that they mustn't share? What do other settings do? Help!!! feeling shocked       Quote
AnonyMouse_30128 Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 All parents sign an agreement which says they will not do this and if they do they will be removed from the system (more polite than that!!!) 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_25331 Posted September 30, 2016 Author Posted September 30, 2016 Thank you for such a quick reply!! Didn't even realise they would be able to do it!!! Shows how tech savvy I am  Quote
FSFRebecca Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Lots of settings ask parents to sign to say they won't do this - however if it is only of one child, their child, whilst irritating doesn't pose a safeguarding risk - they probably put holiday snaps up too. It's more of a conversation about 'we asked you not to and it's disappointing that you did'.It's not peculiar to Tapestry, schools have long struggled with parents posting photos of their children at school events. Parents have also taken their own photos of pictures in paper learning journals and posted them online. It's more of a worry if they are posting pictures of other people's children as obviously they have no right to do that and there might be safeguarding issues - but again this is the 'photos at sports day or Nativity play' scenario that schools face. As Finleysmaid said a conversation with the parent with the suggestion that they (not their child) will be removed from Tapestry seems appropriate as compromising other children's privacy is not on.
