Predicting KS1 Outcomes from GLD

Hi All

Head is asking why our ELG scores were so different from KS1 data.

Erm because the two don't correlate and the KS1 tests are crazily uplevelled were apparently not the answers he was after.

Is anyone else having pressure to account for why this is the case or is it just me and my data???

Cant find anything online to say why GLD data is now being used to predict outcomes for KS1 and apparently eventually KS2!

Feeling fraught. Even more so than usual!

Please help if this is happening to you or even if you have any thoughts on this.

It's about a child being at the expected standard at either point. That's the correlation. Efectively KS1 and KS2 now speak our language. We should be pleased that this is the case!

However the KS1 outcomes in Raiseoline are based on progress from the 2014 data. Interestingly a school I know was asked all about their 2014 data in detail during a recent section 8 Ofsted. This could be to do with either leadership and management around accuracy of EYFS data or progress of pupils from EYfS to KS1, particularly groups.

But the Curriculum for KS1 and 2 has uplevelled so hugely that far less are achieving ARE especially in these first years of the new NC.

Plu at our consortium one teacher told us that the Raise percentages work on numbers not who the children are. So if in eyfs you have 1 child who achieves 3s across the board but leaves in year 1 to be replaced by a child who achieved all 1s you would still be expected to get the mastery levels with the 3 scoring child. Sound like madness but a few others have agreed that this happens! Really??????

Hi

In our Ofsted in September when EYFS got Good but school got RI, one of the issues was tracking of children at exceeding as they move through school. They especially wanted tracking of Pupil Premium children who did well in EYFS as they move through school. It seemed that they expect that if you're expected or exceeding at ELG that should be reflected higher up school. Our head feels the EYFS data is secure as we moderate in school and as a cluster, so thinks the issue of lower achievement in KS1 is a problem there rather than lower down.
