AnonyMouse_37472
We are looking at extending our classroom and I wondered about suggesting bifold doors leading into our outside area. If you have them in your setting, I would be grateful if you could let me know whether you think they are a good idea or if you have had any problems with them. Thanks! AnonyMouse_79
No experience of this but do think about the weight that might be involved. I have worked in a classroom with concertina like doors between rooms and they were a nightmare, heavy to open, difficult to keep held back and difficult to close again properly! AnonyMouse_3735
Modern ones are lighter and easier to move.. not able to comment from personal use, but would they not only be open or closed, so cold could be an issue when open in winter.. unlike a door that can be closed even when others are out. but could be good in better weather allowing a real free flow outside. AnonyMouse_43657
I have them at home and they're great in summer but, to be honest, the number of days a year when it's warm enough to leave them open isn't a lot. They do pin back to keep them open but I'd be a bit concerned about getting fingers trapped as they are heavy. Wouldn't patio doors be an option? I think they're cheaper and you can have them open a bit or a lot, depending on how much draught you want to let in.
