AnonyMouse_14268 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Help, my poor old hands are looking like a 90 year olds and not my youthful 42 years!! Have spent far too much time in the messy activities this week and the result is dry sand papery hands. Can anyone recommend a really good hand cream that actually works. ???? Quote
AnonyMouse_1469 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I really like L'Occitane stuff...........................but also use Nivea Intensive, and the Norwegian formula stuff is really good. If they're really bad, try putting a goodly amount on before bed and wear cotton gloves.......they should improve with that. Failing that, delegate all the horrid jobs to everyone else 2 Quote

AnonyMouse_5970 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 You could try O'Keefe's Working Hands. It comes as a cream or a lotion and is pretty heavy duty. It even stays on after you've washed your hands or had them in water! I use it if my hands are really bad, especially at this time of year. Quote
AnonyMouse_19782 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I would say Norwegian Formula - has always helped mine. Crabtree and Evelyn do some good ones too for gardeners etc., they smell good too. Quote
AnonyMouse_8282 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Every so often I coat my hands in olive oil, and then put plastic disposable gloves on. I try and do this on an 'a home' cleaning/faffing about type day, and when I have a coffee break I massage my nails through the gloves. Works well for me, Also use the Aveno hand crème for daily care. Quote
AnonyMouse_13453 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Always put a load of ha cream on before the marigolds. The washing up water warmth opens the pores and let's the goodness in! Norwegian formula for me too. 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_46692 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I use body shop hemp hand cream :-D a little goes a long way with it 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_23964 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I also use the body shop hemp hand cream. Unusual smell but it works really well. 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_15046 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I use the hydrous ointment https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hydrous-Ointment-Oily-Cream-500g/dp/B00G7XIAFG I'm sure you can buy it much more cheaply from a local pharmacist. I first came across it when it was prescribed for my daughter's eczema. It doesn't disappear after a few minutes like most hand creams but it also doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky and greasy either. It goes in just the right amount and stay there. A dollop rubbed in before I go to bed does wonders. If you want something heavier, 50/50 cream from the pharmacist is ace. It's like super soft vaseline. I had the best hands ever when I had to massage it all over my baby daughter number one twice a day. Quote
AnonyMouse_3735 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 I use a shea butter. I love the L'Occitane one but Body shop do lots in different scents.. Put it on and a pair of cotton gloves works wonders. You could also try gloves in a bottle, worked for me https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gloves-Bottle-Moisturizing-Shielding-Lotion/dp/B0013JXUNG Quote
