Guest Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Can anyone help me? We are a community playgroup with a committee made up of parents and other coopted member and myself as manager. The Psla constitution was changed to allow the manager of groups like mine who have kept them going for years. We run to the psla constitution. A member of staff has asked where the staff's voice on the committee is and there should be another staff on committee. Yes?No? I cannot see in the constitution where it says this
AnonyMouse_3735 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 As manager you are the staff,s voice, if it is about you then they go to the chairperson or other nominated committee member who will deal with it.. We used to give staff members a copy of any minutes to read if they wanted to know what was happening, and they came to manager with questions etc to put forward. 1
AnonyMouse_11396 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 All staff are welcome to attend our committee run meetings. However it is normally myself as a manager and occasionally our administrator that attend in an advisory capacity only. Seems to work well for us. Are there underlying ripples that need addressing, if so I might suggest that they should already know that they can go to the chairperson or nominated person at anytime. Hope this helps.
Guest Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 They know who to go to as regards staff complaints..if another member of staff they come to me or deputy if about me as manager the committee.....Mi utes go up on notice board.TRo be honest staff have never questioned who is on committee until an apprentice got finished.....they were all friends but we couldnt afford to keep her on......just one of those things....
AnonyMouse_22106 Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 I tried to encourage all staff to go to a committee meeting on a rota - so I would go to all as Manager and then if each other member of staff had gone they would only have to go once a year - only ever had 1 member of staff who would do it though Firmly believe committee run settings should be a partnership between comm & staff; many staff over the years have had a moan about various things done/said by a comm member, but I always just used to reply with at least they are trying to help and they don't even get paid! 1
