Guest
I run a nursery class and am moving from reviewing children's progress termly to half termly by making summative assessments at those points. Are other settings being required to do the same and what are your experiences? For example children can look like they haven't made progress as they can be 'Developing' in 30-50 months for awhile as their learning needs time to embed. AnonyMouse_7120
We use summative assessments to track progress half termly, and as you say they can appear to show little progress for a while, we use the refinements which helps show that they are becoming more confident/consistent within the age band, we only look for a reason no progress has been shown if by the end of 2 half terms there is no change in refinements for an aspect, this is also dependent on their actual age as it's almost a 2 year band.
