Linking children to relatives

Recommended Posts

If relatives have been uploaded in bulk to your Tapestry by CSV file (this tutorial here explains how to do this) you will then need to attach each relative to the correct child(ren). You can see relatives that don't have any children attached as it will say 'no children set' underneath their name.

You can attach children to relatives by going to the Control Panel (1) and then to the Manage Relatives page (2). Then click on the 'Manage Relationships' button (3).

This will show you a page with all of your relatives names on it; to attach a child to a relative you just need to click on the 'Edit Relationships' button at the end of the row of a relative's name.

You will then see a pop-up box with a list of all your children’s names. To attach them you just need to select the relationship type (father, mother, etc.) from the drop-down list next to the child's name (1). Relatives that have a tick next to 'Parental Responsibility (2) will be notified once an accident entry has been signed off, and relatives marked as a 'Bill Payer' can be sent invoices for the child (3).

Instead of scrolling through to find the children, you can also use the search bar at the top to narrow down the children listed (4).

Please note that 'enrolling' children will also appear in this list. If children are enrolling then they won't contribute to your list of active children and you can’t use the full functionality of Tapestry with them. This tutorial explains how you can activate children that are enrolling.

When you’re finished press the ‘Save’ button (5).

Once this has been done you will see the child's name appear under the relative. If a child is enrolling, they will be labelled as such.

Please note that you can add children through the 'Manage Relationships' page even if your relatives are inactive, activating or not activated.

You can also link children one relative at a time by clicking on the 'Edit' button next to the relative's name.

You then just need to scroll to the bottom of the page, where you will see if they already have an child linked to them. To link a new child, just click on the 'Attach new child' button and select the child from the drop-down list. It possible to select multiple children here, you just need to click on the attach button again. Children that are ‘enrolling’ will also show up in this list.

After selecting the child, you can then choose the relationship type (1) from the drop-down list, and you can also mark the relative as having parental responsibility (2) and/or being a bill payer (3) for their child/ren here.

If you link a parent to a child that is enrolling, you will see them labelled accordingly (4).

Make sure that you 'Save' (5) the changes when you're done.
