Guest Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Not much of an extension on what you've already said, but we've done bike races, & racing toy vehicles down a ramp.
AnonyMouse_4544 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 We did ordinal numbers when we did Chinese New Year and ordered the animals 'the rat was 1st the ox was 2nd ect ( not much help at this time of the year I know but maybe another story could be adapted to the same purpose) Also we use ordinal language when we line up. Role play people on the bus stop. Board games who has 1st turn to throw the dice who is 2nd? carriages on a train who is in the first carriage etc
Guest Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 You could use Kippers Basket-I know it doesn't actually use ordinal numbers in the text but you could talk about what he throws out first, second etc. Linda
AnonyMouse_4544 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 How about Ten out of bed could stick pictures of the toys in a bed in order?
AnonyMouse_2846 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 we go on an easter egg hunt let the children decorate 10 largiish cardboard eggs and number them 1-10 then we have a check list and have to find the 1st number then the 2nd inorder and ofcourse number 10 is a basket of choc eggs behind it! you could shorten it to 5 depending on where your children are at
Guest Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I have used several different ideas if they are any good 1 using stories like the Gingerbread man , the enormouse turnip and the runaway pancake 2 Role play with a bus 1st in the queue, 2nd seat on the bus. Table top game putting people on the 1st bus etc 3 stepping stones 1st step 2nd step making a game of it
