AnonyMouse_7120 Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Hi I should know this, and think I did once, but where do I find an overview of how many observations each staff member has added this term already ? I checked the thoughorness screen but that shows '0' for all, does Tapestry only register observations that have eyfs assessments included ? Thanks Quote
FSFRebecca Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Hi, yes 'thoroughness' relates to assessments, not observations. Hope that helps Quote
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted September 15, 2017 Author Posted September 15, 2017 (edited) Thanks, so how do I just see the number of obs added, I know they are on each child profile, but that includes parents and managers, I'm just wanting to see how many each staff member has added,. AnonyMouse_7120 Posted September 16, 2017 Author Posted September 16, 2017 Hi, yes 'thoroughness' relates to assessments, not observations. Hope that helps I've been playing around and it doesn't seem to recognise when obs with CoELs only are added (haven't checked the other things like ecat that you can also 'assess' on an ob). We moved away from 'ticking' eyfs statements and assess each ob against CoEL, why can't those obs be used to generate the staff data ? 1 Quote
Lauren Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Hi, You should be able to find those observations by using the page filters on the observations tab (by using the assessment filter), or by going to the assessments section on the observation tab. Can you see those? Quote
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted September 19, 2017 Author Posted September 19, 2017 Hi Lauren, yes I can see which CofEL have been assessed (if that's what you mean) or I can find obs that include CofEL assessments, but it seems that if you are only assessing an ob against them that ob doesn't get counted in the analysis/staff thoroughness (which is where I think I used to be able to see it) 4 yrs in and we've finally given up 'ticking' the eyfs statements and it would be a big ask for staff to remember which band/refinement each KC is working in when they add obs so they don't appear to count in any tallying of individual staff obs...does that make sense ? Quote
Lauren Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 I'm afraid that staff thoroughness screen is only for EYFS and actually the name of it is a little misleading - it's not about the staff member as an individual, but rather their key children group. This means that if 2 staff members share the same group of key children the figures that show up there will be the same. At the moment, the only way to see exactly how many observations a staff member has made is by going to the staff member's overview page (if you want to see the total obs for all the active children on the account), or by using the page filters on the 'Observations' tab and counting the observations. I'm really sorry, I'm not quite sure what you mean by:we've finally given up 'ticking' the eyfs statements and it would be a big ask for staff to remember which band/refinement each KC is working in when they add obs so they don't appear to count in any tallying of individual staff obs.Are you just talking about EYFS assessments here or CoEL too? The best place to go to see the most recent age band and refinement for each KC is the snapshots section (either the latest age bands or the summative assessment screen). We will soon be adding in the child's actual age in months next to their names so you can see that, but we didn't want to put their most recent assessed score next to their names too because that might encourage practitioners to assess them at the same level or higher, even if that's actually not true. To clarify, practitioners don't need to know exactly where they last assessed the child (although they hopefully will already have some prior knowledge about the child). Instead, they should assess each obs based on what they're actually seeing at that point. You can always change the score in the summative assessment at the end of the period if you don't agree with it! For CoEL assessments, you can go to the CoEL section of the Analysis tab. That will show you the number of times you've assessed each statement for each child and when the last time that was, but again that will be based on the child, not the staff member. 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted September 20, 2017 Author Posted September 20, 2017 Hi Lauren Thanks for the info, we only assess the CofEL learning when writing obs, we found that ticking the DM statements was causing us problems with inconsistent progress, even though the staff weren't wrong in the statements they were selecting they might have been in a higher or lower band than where the child was and this threw the progress off when using 'latest snapshot', we now add an ob at the end of each term to show where we judge a child to be and give each area/aspect a band/refinement, this then gives a 'latest' snapshot that we then use for our cohort tracking, pleased to hear the age will included soon :-) Quote
Lauren Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Morning! Are you still making observations throughout the term too? Something to bear in mind is that the latest assessment snapshot shows you the snapshot score from the most recent assessment period, not the most recent observation. What you might want to consider doing is making observations as usual throughout the term then going to the summative assessment screen for each period and manually overriding the scores there so they match with your professional judgement - that way you can be sure the latest assessment snapshot is accurate. AnonyMouse_7120 Posted September 21, 2017 Author Posted September 21, 2017 We are adding other observations, but only assessing them to CoEL, the observation we add during the last week of term and assess each aspect with a band/refinement, once added this gives the same bands/refinements in the 'latest' snapshot when raised before moving into the next period :-) Quote
Lauren Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Ah okay, that makes sense! I'm glad you've managed to find a way that works for you 1 Quote
