AnonyMouse_78482
Hello, I am the Nursery Manager but my Deputy is taking on the SENDcO role. Do we both need to have the training? Thanks!
AnonyMouse_14268
I would say that it is good practice for two people to be SENCO trained if possible.
AnonyMouse_19782
I would say you as manager need to keep up to date with Senco stuff, your Senco needs support, and between you you can make good decisions. If she were to leave, you will understand what is happening and why and will be able to carry on the role until you find a replacement, it may be that you can only find a Deputy, but another member of staff will take on As manager I feel, not in a controlling way, but that I need to be as able as my staff to cover all aspects of the job.
AnonyMouse_55440
So is this SENDcO term official now? not heard many people using it yet, will take a while to get used to. Does anyone know when it will be reflected in the statutory framework?
AnonyMouse_5970
I have a SENDCo and as manager, I am the deputy SENDCo. The term SENDCo is correct but I think most people just pronounce it the same as SENCo!
AnonyMouse_13453
It's been SENDCo for quite a long time, pre-my retirement in 2015 certainly, I was hearing it back then.
AnonyMouse_30128
our special needs school recently advertised for a SENCO. ....i really wouldn't worry about what you call it as long as you know how to do it 1
