We are soon to spend a whole week as a school on Hinduism. Reception's focus will be family. Anyone any ideas of what I can do, any food I could cook and stories I could use in Literacy? Anything please as I just can't think of anything - maybe that is because it is 10.30pm on a Friday!!

The story of Rama and Sita springs to mind.

How about cooking a vegetable curry? You could do your literacy around it too - list of ingredients, instructions, invitations to others to come and share etc etc

Any good?

Oh, just re-read your post! Don't know about the family bit for a story :o

Sorry I haven't replied before, been thinking about it (ouch). How about looking at rangoli patterns and decorating the role play area as if for Diwali - I know it's the wrong time of year, but it's 'family'.
