AnonyMouse_14268
So we have to put some canvases on our walls to try and improve the acoustics for our child with a hearing impairment.  I have bought 12 very large plain canvases and plan to let the children decorate them.  I have a few ideas but would be interested to know how you would decorate them?🙂 Edited to say they are 90 x90 cm. AnonyMouse_7120
How many children do you have ? Could you split each one so each child has their own display space ? They could have a photo of themselves, add anything they are proud of, photos of things they make, a speech bubble to add wows, add their own hand print ....I’d love to have wall space for that :-)

AnonyMouse_7120
Ah sorry, sticking with the paint effect theme what about different tyre pattern tracks through paint, foot prints (or wellie boots they have great patterns) ,leaf prints, scrunched up foil/bags.......
AnonyMouse_30128
To give it a more cohesive theme how about sticking to a colour palette ...so you could do just black and white prints. very good if you have very little ones. Or maybe stick to a theme so vegetable prints perhaps...)one with broccoli one with carrots etc etc or hand prints in yellow/red blue green ,one colour for each canvas?? AnonyMouse_43806
Â We also need to improve the acoustics in our playgroup as we have a little one who has hearing impairment. We have three big rooms, all with very high ceilings, no carpet and one with no curtains. The walls are very old and really difficult to attach anything to them and not allowed to hang anything from the ceiling. Sometimes the noise is very loud. Anybody got experience of this problem and can advise. Like the idea of canvases on the wall. Thanks.

We have lots of smallish carpets (ikea type) which also go in the washing machine! BONUS!! we put material anywhere we can ...in our hall there are trusses we sling large pieces of light material over them which helps to define areas and 'calm' the noise, they are not attached ! We also use materials between barriers to create 'soft' walls and we have two arches which we use for separating areas too. amazing the difference when we clear the hall for the end of term functions!

Snap!  We have high ceilings, windows that are huge and actually go up to the ceiling and hard floors.  We are doing the canvases to put on the walls, we have put material on the shelves and I bought 4 more rugs yesterday.  It’s been suggested that we put curtains up, but it will make it too dark and they are not practical given the size of our windows.  I am going to get some tennis balls to put on the chair legs as the proper ‘hush up’ version is so expensive.  The hearing teacher gave me a handout of how to improve the listening environment on Friday so I will get it tomorrow and can post it on here for you if it would be helpful.  We are meant to be having a man come to do a acoustic audit, but I just know that everything he will suggest is going to be so expensive.  All we have to spend is the DAF money which is £615.  So I am trying to find cheaper alternatives.  The child is only with us until July.  If I come by Amy ,ore helpful info 8 will pass it onto you.
