AnonyMouse_64595
Does anyone know when this qualification will become available and if so with whom? Thanks
FSFRebecca
I've had a good look, but I can't find anything helpful - sorry. I'll ask if anyone knows (I'll be back )
AnonyMouse_64595
The DfE has published the Level 3 Early Years SENCO qualification specification. The qualifications developed from this specification are intended to support early years practitioners to gain accreditation for the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to perform the Early Years SENCO role effectively. The qualifications are not mandatory. This recommended specification has been designed by early years experts and stakeholders supported by the Department for Education (DfE). The DfE has also published a Level 3 EY SENCO job description, which is intended as guidance for early years providers and practitioners to help clarify the role of the Early Years SENCO in non-maintained early years settings. Yes, we posted that when it was published here, I was looking to see if I could find something that had some dates that would help you
FSFRebecca
I've had a response back from a SENCO specialist: "Like you I've seen the DfE information and as far as I'm aware it's up to Awarding Organisations to design the course to fit the specification then offer it to practitioners, I'm not sure about the timescale for this or if it will be face to face or online. I'm concerned that the course isn't mandatory and that practitioners will probably need to fund it themselves." I hope that is helpful

AnonyMouse_53420
Although the rate is reduced our small pvi setting has just not got funds to enable a member of staff to complete this training. We can't be the only provision to be in this position.
AnonyMouse_37030
My SENCO is on long term sick leave and I suspect might not be back. Once this is confirmed we shall need to replace on a permanent basis (currently we have someone standing in for this role so have temporary cover and we have worked together to ensure our SEND children are being covered but I think I might like (if its not too expensive) to get some formal training ie CACHE lvl 3 if it's available but I am finding lots of the links mentioned in these posts and indeed on my google searches are just coming up as"page ot available" etc. Is there such a course for everyone country wide or is it just like the emperor's we get told the training is there but it isn't? I did L3 many (many) years ago through cache, is it just old links coming up ? When I did assessing years ago students could add the module as an option if they wanted.
