AnonyMouse_70655 Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 How do we stand regarding GDPR and a child transferring to a new setting? Their account and learning journal can be transferred to the new setting but I am wondering if that is GDPR compliant?
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Hi and welcome to the forum, I’ve gone with ‘yes it is’ under the lawful basis of ‘legal obligation’ from 3.68 of framework, my ‘sharing agreements’ say we will share Tapestry learning journals via electronic transfer (to new settings and schools using Tapestry)
AnonyMouse_43468 Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 I would say be very careful and check this out very thoroughly before you do it, after all it concerns everyone else’s children too, not just the one you are transferring. We don’t get involved in this for this very reason.

We don’t get involved in this for this very reason. Transferring a journal doesn't necessarily concern everyone else's children. As you say we do need to be very mindful of the data we are sharing and make sure that we use the transfer option carefully. On Tapestry, every child has their own journal and they are transferred individually. In the light of the new GDPR we put in the following features; when you prepare to transfer a child's journal you have the option to exclude group observations. You can also strip out all the photos and videos and send them separately to parents, sending only text to schools. I hope that reassures you
