I might be completely barking but I thought it might be a nice idea if the children had the opportunity to bring their grannies and grandads to school one day.( to see how things have changed and such like!!! plus a bit of PR)

I could get completely snowed under with grannies. Has anyone done anything like this or have any suggestions of the sorts of activities that we could do so that it is a great time for the children and grandparents alike???

Yours in eager anticipation

How about the children preparing some refreshments or gifts for their grandparents?

Or maybe the grandparents have skills they can demonstrate, like knitting, woodwork?

I just wanted to let you know that the Grandparents day was a huge hit!

lots of postitive feedback. I just put out lots of crafts the grandparents could do with their grandkids - refreshments in the staff room, grannys were in the sand, reading stories in the book area, one granddad was so made up with my white board he was trying to find his house and the school on google earth with a group of eager 4 year old spectators. So although it was mad and hectic, I would certainly do it again!

That sounds like a nice idea Michaelle! Did you know there is an official grandparents day? It's in October I think, so might have to think about trying that one!
