Deactivating staff members

This tutorial will show you how to deactivate staff members individually and in bulk.

There are various reasons you might want to deactivate a staff member's account, but the most important thing to bear in mind is that they will not be able to access their account or request a reset password email unless you make them active again. If you wish to learn more about user status please click here

As it stands right now, inactive staff members have an advantage over awaiting deletion members; whilst awaiting deletion staff members will be permanently deleted from the account after 90 days, inactive staff can be reactivated whenever you please.

Also, whilst at the moment you can have as many inactive staff members for as long as you wish, it is likely that we will introduce a cap on either the number of staff you can have inactive in the account at any given time or the amount of time a staff member can be left inactive in your account for.

We'll look at how you can deactivate individual staff members first. To skip to the section on deactivating multiple staff members at once click here.

Deactivating staff members individually

For this, you will have to navigate to control panel from your profile's drop down-menu (1) > manage staff (2) > search for the staff member (3) > click on the cog by their profile (4) > select 'Make Inactive' (5).

Deactivating staff members in bulk

You can deactivate as many staff members as you want in one go.

For that you will have to navigate to 'manage staff' (remember that you can get here by accessing your control panel). Once here, you will be able to select which staff members you'd like to make inactive by ticking the corresponding boxes (1). Then just select 'make inactive' (2) from the drop-down menu that will pop up at the bottom of the screen, and press 'go' (3).

Once you select the option to make them inactive, you will be taken to a page where you will need to confirm your actions. By default all selected members of staff will be set to be made inactive (1). If you have selected any members of staff by mistake and don't want to make them inactive, select 'do nothing' from the drop-down (2).

When you are happy you have the correct actions for each member of staff, press 'Make Staff Inactive' (3).
