AnonyMouse_30128
Just a thought...do any of you provide emergency care for days like today when schools are closed. We are registered for all ages and they would be in ratio. Wondered how Ofsted views this?? can't find anything to say Yay or Nay!
AnonyMouse_29641
Can't see any reason why not. As childminders we do it all the time. Unless there's something specifically different in your regulations.
AnonyMouse_5970
Yes, we have done this. We run a holiday club during school holidays so are registered for all ages too. We have had older siblings at nursery on days when the local schools are closed but we are still open.
AnonyMouse_30128
just for interest do you charge the same?
AnonyMouse_13453
That's a tricky one, FM. If it's children of the staff, we didn't feel we could charge, as we would rather staff were there, rather than at home with their children. AnonyMouse_30128
I think that would be a given Cait ...we already run an after school provision and in the recent snow ALL the local schools closed, we were open as normal (to be honest I have NO idea why the schools closed!!) just wondering if we could offer an emergency service to those who were already registered with us and potentially charging a 'flat fee' for the day ...so perhaps the cost of two sessions lunch and after school provision plus an emergency supplement ...maybe a bit cheeky but people might pay so that they can go to work???
