EmilyTapestrySupport
Please note that this tutorial is about tracking for the old EYFS. For information about tracking screens for the new EYFS 2021, please click here. The 'Earliest and Latest Age Bands' screens that are available within the EYFS Snapshots section in the Tapestry Tracking will show you the earliest and latest summative assessment a child has achieved for each aspect over the whole time they have been assessed on your account. You can view these individually or for whole groups of children. Before looking at these screens, we would recommend you read through this tutorial, so you understand how the summative assessments are calculated on Tapestry. Essentially though, they are an average of a child's assessed age bands and refinements (if you have these enabled) for an aspect, within a term. This means that the screens won't show you the earliest or latest individual age band and refinement a child has been assessed as, but rather the earliest/latest average of their assessments. You can find these screens by clicking on the Tracking tab at the top of the page (1), make sure you are on the 'EYFS' section (2) and then in the 'Earliest & Latest Age Bands' box either select the 'Individual View' or 'Group View' option (3). I'm going to start with the Individual View. To skip to the section on the Group View, click here. Individual View After selecting the Individual View option, you can then choose which child you want to view this for (1) and whether you would like to see the earliest or latest age bands, this just means the earliest or latest summative assessments (2). Once you have selected these options you will see the chart which lists all the EYFS aspects in the first column (1), then in the second column you will see the period in which the child's earliest or latest summative assessment was achieved, I've selected to view the latest assessments (2). The third column shows you the actual age band and refinement (if you have refinements enabled) that make up the child's summative assessment for this aspect (3), if the summative assessment was manually inputted by a member of staff, there will be a pencil mark next to it to indicate this (4). If you want to see the observations with assessments in that have contributed towards the summative assessment score you see, you just need to click on the 'Show Details' button in the last column (5). You can use the latest assessments screen if you want a picture of where a child is 'now' but don't want to see any gaps, this is because as as long as a child has an assessment, Tapestry will just pull through their most recent summative assessment. If wanted to then change the screen to view the alternative earliest/latest view, as I originally chose the latest assessments this would be the earliest assessments for me, you can do this from the 'Type' drop-down at the top of the page (1). To switch to the group view you just need to click on the 'Group' tab that's at the top as well (2). Group View Once on the group tab, you can select to see the earliest or latest assessment from the 'Type' drop-down (1) and if you want to view this for a specific group of children, you can choose this using the filters (2). Then if you scroll down in the chart you will be able to see each child's earliest or latest summative assessment (1). If a child has a dash instead of an assessment, as we can see Molly has for Managing Feelings and Behaviour (2), this means they have no assessments at all for this aspect. You can use the scroller bar at the top of the chart to move between the different aspects (3) and above this you can see a key, reminding you of what the different colours in the chart mean (4). The 'CSV' and 'PDF' buttons (5) will allow you to export this page. Back to Main Tutorials Page
