FSFRebecca
It's the season of transition meetings, teddy bears picnics, school visits and decisions about friendship groupings. Share with us here the most successful things you have done, either as a nursery teacher or as a receiving Reception teacher! You never know, the things you think are obvious might not have occurred to someone else and you might find an idea that you haven't tried that is 'just the ticket' for your current cohort! Jules
As a Nursery teacher in a school based Nursery with lots of shared space with Reception, we were lucky enough for our children and their families to be very familiar with the reception staff by now. But at this time in the year we still had great fun doing small things - in little groups we would sneak into the Reception classroom while they were doing PE, have a go with some of the resources, have a snack there, and maybe even leave them a little message or something we made to say thank you! We also did treasure hunts in the Reception classroom when the Reception children were off out and about - looking for things that would be hidden in key places - the loos, the pegs, the book corner, the sand tray. This gave us loads of opportunities to talk about what was the same and what was different about the space the children were moving from and the one they would be occupying very soon! Also chances for collaboration between the older and younger children, leaving notes and 'made' surprises for each other!
