AnonyMouse_53420 Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Hi Does anyone have any photos of models the children have made using the large hollow blocks. I'm planning on creating a book of ideas to give our, mainly boys, a starting point on how to use the blocks in their play. Thanks if anyone can help, if not i'll stay and play after work and get building.
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 No book - but I did make a collage display of various buildings, bridges etc - just using google images - mounted on a board that was placed in block play area - I'm now wondering where that is now - back of a cupboard I suspect - hmm would be good to get that out again I always offer other resources alongside blocks - figures, animals, vehicles and so on, that seems to encourage play..... 1
BenTapestrySupport Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 I did the same as @sunnyday in that I put photos of real life constructions (although mine were laminated and put near the construction equipment because wall space was very limited). I also made a few examples of the pictures using the different construction things and took photos of them to help give them ideas. They always did better than me though (or at least that's what I told them!) 1

The children loved using these as a 'challenge cards' to recreate the picture. Went down really well- especially in the last half of the summer term when we started making more difficult challenges. 2
