AnonyMouse_19920
For us as a term time setting we are now almost at the summer break which is crazy! It is usually the half term that seems to go on forever but passes by in a blur - the half term where you usually are arranging goodbye celebrations / graduations etc., which will sadly be missing this year. What will you miss most? For me it is not being able to say "Goodbye" to those children who were unable to return for a variety of reasons. 😌😪
AnonyMouse_8282
My daughter had a mimi meltdown today as a cot she was trying to order couldn't be delivered until 'mid July' she was literally in tears .... and I just looked at her, to her to pull herself together- it's only next week so hardly anything to cry about!!! She glared at me as if I was an Alien... then she realised. We did't reopen in the end, but we are having socially distanced 'drop by' on Friday this week - outside, and over the course of a morning so we can at least say goodbye to our children and families. I've got to admit I haven't missed the stress of arranging the end of year singsong concert!
AnonyMouse_7120
It just seems so flat, no leavers trip or sports day, no open mornings for new starters, only a handful of school leavers came back but still hoping we can do some sort of get together before they go to school but not sure how that can be done as it would mean more than 30 even with only one parent each 😢

They have been reminded they have to follow SD guidelines at all times though. The park-keeper was ok with us down it this way as long as we did it early and 'we' were finished by 11.30, when the park starts to get busy.
AnonyMouse_39998
no sports day for our school leavers and no presentation........no party for the younger ones..........It has been hard for all our staff, we have been open all along for our keyworkers and then from June for our school leavers who out of 38, 34 returned. Staff have been in two bubbles, I have not seen some of my key children since we initially closed and have really missed the last term of preparing them for school even though I have full confidence that my co workers have worked really hard to to this. We have planned a " drive by" as our setting has a large car park. Parents ( walking or driving) have been given time slots to arrive, come into the car park were staff will be lined up to say our goodbyes. We will be decorating the back of the preschool with bunting and banners, we have all created placards to hold and will be having fun with water pistols and the like......its just going to be a very strange send off. We are hoping that perhaps we will be able to invite the leavers back at Christmas to have a proper party then. We are open for a holiday club, still with restrictions in place so it will be nice to see some of the younger children who are attending. Settling in might be an issue, its a case of wait and see. As for September, I am trying not to think about it. Some of our existing parents are going to struggle if they are not allowed in the setting let alone new starters parents. We are holding a walk through morning ( adults only no children) with social distancing and time slots, masks to be worn, for new parents on the days we are not open. Cleaning has been intense and resources limited but outside has been so valuable! I wonder if we will be back to " Normal" by Christmas.... or if we will get a second wave! Down here in West Sussex we are unlikely to get a local lockdown but it is anyone's guess!
AnonyMouse_8282
We had our drop-by yesterday. I was surprised by how well it went. The weather wasn't to good and the ground was to wet for picnics (massive field) but fun was had by everyone and lots of photos.- but I was starving by the end, and did miss the party food/buffet socialising atmosphere though. . We didn't put bunting up in the trees due to the weather -so it didn't look so pretty either.
AnonyMouse_30128
I have been planning for september as much as i can (without the inevitable next set of Gov guidelines) but i have to confess to a lack of enthusism to do anything for the end of this term....i am happy that its ending ! I just can't get my head round anything, i don't seem to be able to make decisions and i feel a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing. Our cohort for next term is going to be challenging to say the least as we will have at least 4 children with significant SEND needs and these are just the ones i know about ! I think i will have to employ another member of staff (if anyones looking give me a shout!!) and i think my focus has shifted to that . We have gifts organised and the staff are in on friday.i'm wondering if we should just do a drive by and throw them their gift😂 Its all very weird ............ 1

Do it!🤣🤣 I have to say in the end I was actually glad the weather wasn't that great for us- as it did stop parents lingering to long and becoming complacent to the whole SD thing.
