You can find out more here, including a link to watch live, as well as to follow transcripts after the event. To inspire a child’s hunger for learning is where I believe we all hold our reason for doing what we do. A full time place costs, on average, £14,000 per year, making it completely unaffordable for many families. Parents are forced to leave their jobs or work fewer hours, which has a negative impact on the economy and on child poverty.” In its response to the petition, the Government said: “The Government is not currently planning a review of the childcare system. Support is available to help with childcare costs, and the Government monitors the sustainability of childcare providers.” Well that was short and to the point wasn't it! That price is for 2-5 yr old, 49 weeks per year 8-6 - so 3.60 per hour. We don't charge for anything extra at all - We don't make any money either!! (we are non-profit) but we do manage to pay a bit above minimum wage, not use apprentices in our ratio and to just about cover our costs.
