Guest
Hi everyone, In large school nurseries (50 plus) does anyone have regular large group sessions (rather than splitting up) for how long and for what activities? I'm going to visit the nursery where I'll be doing supply soon and know that their reception classes can have circle, storytime and singing with over forty children (plenty of staff supporting). I know that I'll find out about nursery soon but wonder what is normal in your large settings. Thanks for any replies Ade
AnonyMouse_73
Hi Ade We are 39 place and we do short whole group sessions, one am and one after lunch. We may do story, music or singing, or an activity on the IWB. We dont do it at the start of the year, usually once they have all settled in, and Id probabaly find it straneg if we didnt. AnonyMouse_2732
Fairly much like mundia, there! (Except for the whiteboard - I am desperately pleading, there!) Sue
Guest
Hi Mundia and Sue, Thanks for replying. 50 is big all in one go but I agree that the children need to be together at some time to feel that they belong. I've been asked to give a talk to a parents' coffee morning on what I'm going to be doing in nursery to develop the speaking and listening - so that will interesting. I've written a short talk to deliver and after that I'm speaking to the head about she's expecting! She's really nice so I hope it will all go well. Thank again for replying.
