Guest
Does anyone know when the final Ofsted calls for this year are? We are overdue for our inspection but our head has said if we don't receive a call by tomorrow we won't be inspected until next year now. We break up on the 26th July and are worried that he is tempting fate. He seems to be basing his statement on 'surely they won't inspect anyone in the last week of term!!' Does anyone know if these is correct or are we trempting fate?!?!

Guest
I've heard of people being 'done' in the last week of the Christmas term - I can't even begin to imagine the horrors of that . I don't think you can relax at all until you get to the stage when they can't give you 2 days' notice - sorry!
Guest
It's horrid isn't it playing the waiting game and I don't envy anyone who is ofsteded in their last week of term - all the children are out of routine - all excited and nervous about moving on, staff are tired having had to prepare all the reports etc and get things done. I really hope they don't walk in but put an action plan in place if they do. We have to set up every day and sometimes we change at short notice what we put out but we do know what we will put out when Ofsted come in just so that we all know what we are doing - nothing worse when you are under stress thinking about what we should put out. Good luck and I will keep my fingers crossed. Nikki
Guest
I know how you feel Lola. Our LEA advisor rung us about a week ago to tell us we're on 'Red Alert' - whatever that means - but then we've all been expecting it all year!! I was gonna ask the same question on here myself so I'm glad someone has, and would be interested to know the very latest someone has had one. We break up on 21st by the way. Guest
We had our inspection a few years ago and was last week of term. Had to re-arrange all end of term parties. They said that it wouldn't be necessary to change things, but hearing past experiences of others, it was definately the best move as they wouldn't have seen a normal session! I think all inspectors should be made to stay in their office during the last week of every term to do their paperwork - whoops! sorry they don't get as much as us do they, so they wouldn't have to!!!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that they don't turn up, you'll only have the six weeks to worry over it then! They might turn up the first week of the new term, which is just as bad!! ONLY JOKING!!! Best of luck Kymberley
Guest
Hi I'm with you, i was wondering if they would come the last week. Trouble is we are a pre-school so we don't get any notice. We have been told we are over due an Ofsted inspection by our Early years advisor, so we are on tender hooks waiting. I hope they don't come now we have so many energetic boys, keeping them occupied is proving difficult, and 3 new members of staff who i'm struggling to get up to speed quickly. Have planned a meeting on first day of the holidays to talk to staff about Ofsted and what to expect as so many are new. we break up on the 21st. Guest
Just to add some hope, our inspection has just been done and the children were fantastic, the records were all uptogether for moving on and really it was quite a good time to visit, they (the inspectors) take into account the fact that the children are all ready to move, (well not all of them) and I think us remaining calm had an effect on the children, good luck, better now than in September, we always have cryers!! Guest
Our last inspection was the first week of the September term - settling new children and all Traumatic for staff, but overall inspectors were pretty fair and as we were lucky enough to have an early years specialist on the team they understood the pressure of the the first week and identified good practice in our settling in procedures
AnonyMouse_3735
Just had ours, didnt change a thing , planning had all changed for the week, all different and she waas very aware of the end of term thing, actually apologised as she had done our last inspection and vividly remembered her last visit..... Last week of christmas term!!! Nothing the same reahersals etc etc, She did say they continued until last week of term and did not stop because of time of year. Nikki, Just a comment to say she arrived AFTER we had set up and came in with the children that morning having waited with parents, so action plan may not actually be of any use on first day, but you can make it work for second, she actually told us to change things if needed to make sure we saw everything we felt she needed to. AnonyMouse_3401
We are also hoping we won't get the call.... we are putting on an end of year performance as well as everything else and not enough days left to squeeze enough rehearsals I think if they called it would send our director over the edge!
