Guest Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Hi I was thinking of putting together a leaflet for the parents over the holidays about what they put it their child's lunch box's, many of the children's lunch box's are filled with chocolate bars, sausage rolls and unhealthy snacks, one child had 2 chocolate bars, 3 biscuits and a packet of crisps, very unhealthy and the child took ages to munch their way through it. Just wondered if anybody else does this?
AnonyMouse_4544 Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 We decided to have a healthy lunch box day in the unit. We have asked for the school nurse to come in and talk about healthy eating to the parents then plan to provide ingredients to make a healthy lunch box. Parents and children can work together to make lunch and hopefully we will get the message across that chocolate isnt a good lunch.
Guest Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Sounds like a great idea, sure most parents would appreciate a few idea, even if they think their little one dosnt eat anything apart from junk. Good luck with it all

AnonyMouse_1027 Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 we just sent a simple letter home explaining about the sorts of things we wanted to see in lunch boxes along with ice packs.
AnonyMouse_3735 Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Same as hali, also included the need for small portions (some come with very unrealistic portions and amounts sometimes 6 or 7 items as well as a fulll sandwich) and not to introduce new foods which they may not like, have also used some of the ideas from beau to update it recently..........thank- you Inge
