Planning For Transition To Year 1

I am an NQT and from September have the responsibilty of a year 1 class. There are also 9 pupils who are repeating year 1.

Does anyone have any ideas for planning for the transition of the reception children please?

Hi Tameside. Sorry to temporarily hijack your thread, but why do some children have to repeat years at school? Does it mean they will go to secondary school a bit later than the rest? SOrry to sound dim, but I've never heard of it before!

For the children to re-visit the year 1 curriculum will benefit these children immensely. They are still working at ELG levels and need the reinforcement of these foundations. We have looked closely at the individual child through careful assessment and observation, this has enabled us to adapt the curriculum to fit their needs. Within our setting we work to a thematic curriculum. As a team we organise the curriculum to fit the children's needs.

Can I just ask what will happen to these children in the summer term when they will be due to take SATs?

It is for transition between FS and KS1 but there will be principals that remain the same.

The children who are repeating Y1 do they have SEN? will they be exempt from SATs ?as you say they are still working on ELGs
