Guest
A teacher who teaches on our foundation stage team is a firm beleivere that children shoud not start to record until the summer term. Is this right - is part of some guidelines somewhere or is this an opinion?
AnonyMouse_79
The medium term NNS plans suggests writing numbers in the summer term. Emergent writing can be offered at any time? I do think that you need to have a balance of skills and "readiness" before starting recorded work but what is meant by recording? A cutting and sticking activity could be recorded work etc. Children becoming discouraged by a more formal task that they can not complete or access should be discouraged---perhaps that is what she means??
