AnonyMouse_1999 Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Hi We have had such fun with this at pre-school! One of the best was the day I let the children think of/choose an animal we might meet whilst rowing and the associated sound we would make. Of course we 'met' dogs that barked, cats that miaowed, cows that mooed and so on and then one little lad suggested meeting an aardvark!!!!! and the noise an aardvark makes?? no idea, answers on a postcard please! Quote
Steve Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 It's pretty much the same noise as a soft vark but a bit louder Quote
Guest Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Could it be..... Row row etc Throw your teacher over board and listen to her scream..... Quote
Guest Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 I guess if you're having a bad Ofsted you could substitute 'inspector' for 'teacher'. Oops, I'm out of here...... Quote
AnonyMouse_79 Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 you don't need to run away from us, Nicola.! I think that's an excellent idea but ....perhaps not!!! Susan Quote
Guest Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 Just caught on to this line. Can't think of anything new myself, sorry, but have just had a good laugh at everyone else's ideas, especially Steve's. I've got Ofsted coming in next week (supposedly) so I might just try some of these ideas. It could make her sit up a little. Mobbster Quote

Steve Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Hi Akire - Welcome, and thanks for kicking off with a fresh verse! First of many posts I hope! Quote
Guest Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 I have to say, this is one of my favourite rhymes. It is great, with the aid of the crocodile line, to allow the children to scream with all their might. We used to have a signal that meant the children should stop screaming. We used it in a concert once and they were fantastic, even the littlest ones stopped on the signal. I think Ofsted would appreciate a little ear drum bashing! Quote
Guest Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 As mentioned elsewhere, our topic for this term is transport and as a desparate measure we have changed the words to Drive drive drive your car gently down the street, merrily ................... dont forget to use your feet! On the back of this, and appreciating the humour the change has caused, has really inspired the children to invent their own rhymes and not be afraid to invent their own verses......... after a lot of adult modelling why not be brave and let go and let the children invent....... who could fail to be impressed? Quote
Guest Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Just to let you all know.... "row, row, row" is one of the "activities" I use with the severely ASD child I work with. She is seven and on an intervention programme. We hit upon "rowing" by accident (she is quite heavy to carry and I needed to put her down, so we did it all .... then, "into the water we go" ...... so we could be on the floor). I am using, or keeping for future use, all your lovely suggestions. Diane. Quote
AnonyMouse_2846 Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Row row row your boat quickly to sea Merrilly merrilly merrilly back in time for tea Quote
