Guest
Hello, I have been using the pack "Mathematical Activities for the Foundation Stage" for some ideas on maths activities in reception. Have others been using this, how do you find it, and how does it fit with the NNS plans for reception ? (which I am a bit aware I am not following strictly)
Guest cat33
Mharhi, is that the material from the NNS? I have tried the FS1 material bit found it to be rather "formal". We are using abacus maths in FS2 available from Hamilton Trust. The plans are on the web. Chris
Guest
Have been using the spiral bound Reception booklet from the blue Foundation Stage lunchbox for about a year and have found some good ideas in here. The objectives at the top of the activity match the stepping stones, is really easy because all objectives in the book are colour coded to the stepping stones. However, i like the children in my class to play games in groups as well, links in well with Personal, Social and Emotional. Anyone know any books with games to photocopy and prepare or any websites offering these? Thanks.
Guest mandi
Hi I have used 'mini maths' in the past. They are two books full of games that are easy to play and the children soon become independent. I also use "Helping Young Children with Numeracy" by Andrina Flinders (Lawrence Educational Publications) It is based around a puppet and covers most areas of NNS. It is especailly good for introductions and the kids love it! mandi
