Guest
Just thought I would share, these little people were a great success today, playing with their 'big' owners. They behaved themselves, tidied up and joined in at circle and story time straight away. They live in the 'Preschool family box' although some insisted on going home with their parents, but promised they would come back tomorrow, because if their 'big' owner isn't in Peggy and all their friends miss playing with them Peggy p.s. If you turn me around, I hold my hand up and say "stop running" or "stop and listen" but I didn't get turned around today

AnonyMouse_3735
Looks good peggy, i know it takes time to do this have done it before , we had laminated pictures on stands which were played with all the time, children loved using thier own models in the dolls house and those of their friends when they were away. They went home at the end of the year, Apparently this is used a lot in New Zealand, our PLA development worker visited and gave us all the idea to try here. Guest
I was rather hoping they were mounted onto corks from Merlot wine bottles! Sorry, I buy 3 litre boxes of wine, bottles just jangle too much in the recycle They are on cardboard tubes and are about 5 inches high. However we have done life size models as well, rolled out wallpaper rolls, child lays down, we draw around body, child sticks material on for clothes, wool for hair, photo of face and choose the 'nearest' flesh colour paint for arms and hands. These are hung from the ceiling, will post photo later. Peggy

AnonyMouse_4495
I've never seen these done before - what a fab idea!! These are hung from the ceiling, will post photo later. Peggy I did this at Christmas one year. The children wanted to do a big display, so we decided to do carol singers. THe children drew round each other, cut themselves out and we spent days discussing what clothes to wear, what materials we would need, how to stick them to the person, making lanterns etc etc. The only downside was that they were so heavy, they kept falling off the wall and setting the nursery alarm off (I don't think I was too popular) But the children enjoyed it and couldn't wait to show their parents! AnonyMouse_3975
At my sons primary/junior school, they had an artist come in and the children all drew a lifesize picture of themself and the artist transferred it onto the playground walls - they are still there now and my son is amost 18. I love the models Peggy - will be making some myself. smiles
