AnonyMouse_5003
Hi I'm doing a senses week next week. My head wants to come and observe a K&UW lesson and in particular she's looking for investigative work and cooperative learning. Has anyone got any great ideas? Guest
Just done this recently and we did it via story of Handa's Surprise - For K+U activity tables we did 'explore and investigate' element of FS -we had a variety of fruits from story, tasted, smelt, touched etc -compared dried/tinned/fresh varieties of fruits and encouraged devlt of vocab. On another table we had whole fruit/half fruit to explore independently with mirrors and magnifying glasses. A simple and cheap taste investigation I've done before is guessing the flavour of crisps that look the same - have diff paper plates, etc -children could do a simple group recording by sticking empty crisps bags on a simple chart or teacher scribe comments. Smell activity - make 'smelly jellies' using gelatine, colouring and variety of scents - or cotton wool with scents (there has been a recent discussion on forum with some good ideas) Hope these help a bit - good luck! It seems evryone is either being observed by heads or OFSTED at the moment!!
AnonyMouse_6324
We had a texture trail for feet! Lots of different materials - furry rug, builders plastic sheet, bubble wrap, door mat etc. and made a trail around a slightly darkened room - not dangerously dark but ust to make it more fun/ and to think about not using our eyes. It was fun and made the children think and created lots of talk.
