AnonyMouse_6324 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I am wondering if anyone has held a workshop type event organised by a visiting musician, puppeteer, artist or similar? We are looking for an alternative to taking the children on a visit for next term? Any ideas or recommendations would be welcome. Thanks
Guest Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I am organising for a lady to come to our setting who is a dance/drama teacher, she actually did my daughters birthday party (teaching lots of girls a cheerleading routine) and she said she also had a childcare qualification and loved working with children, I asked her if she would come into pre-school to do a dance and music session and she said she would love to. We also have a local mum whose a physiotherapist, she had been into the reception class at the local school to talk to the children about the 'body'. She brought in her skeleton and talked about healthy excercise eating etc and the children responded very well, so again I asked if she could adapt her 'workshop' for 3 and 4 years old, she said yes, so she coming in after half term.

Guest Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 We had the most fantastic "actors" in last year who performed Elmer and then did a workshop in the afternoon with several classes. There was one man and his son and they did the whole lot, it was performed for reception and Years 1 and 2. They seemed a bit perculiar when they arrived but the children absolutely loved them and their performance was brilliant. I could find out the name if you would like.
Guest Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I would be interested in the contact number for the Elmer people. Thanks
AnonyMouse_6324 Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 Thanks for those ideas. The Elmer activity sounds fun and the number would be useful. Thanks
