You could always contact my old school (local to you). They do French every week, and one of the teachers speaks fluent French - I'm sure he's be happy to speak to you on the phone and give you some ideas.

Hi!,

Frere Jacques?.... you can extend by translating into English and let the childen know what the song means.

or if you are more adventerous, 'Sur la pont d'Avignon'

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse, l'on y danse

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse tous en rond

Les beaux messieurs font comm' çà

Et puis encore comm' çà

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse, l'on y danse

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse tous en rond

Les bell' dames font comm' çà

Et puis encore comm' çà

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse, l'on y danse

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse tous en rond

Les jardiniers font comm' çà

Et puis encore comm' çà

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse, l'on y danse

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse tous en rond

Les couturiers font comm' çà

Et puis encore comm' çà

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse, l'on y danse

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse tous en rond

Les vignerons font comm' çà

Et puis encore comm' çà

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse, l'on y danse

Sur le pont d'Avignon

L'on y danse tous en rond

Les blanchisseus's font comm' çà

Et puis encore comm' çà

'On the bridge at Avignon'

We teach French to the infants in our school, the Primary French site is really good:

If you click on primary French 2 there's a section on Pets (and a song!) Here's the link:

I also have a really good French song book that I use with my class called Singing French published by AC Black. I think it's meant for Juniors but I've taught some of them to my Reception class and they love them!
