Guest
Hi just wondering if anyone could help? Doing a presentation about early writing and the stages of how writing develops from emergent writing. Does any one have any inspirational quotes or poems etc about writing that I could use to as a starting point for my presentation? Or any inspirational info on developing early writing? Thanks xx

Guest
I would be very interested to see too Kat. We have been having many heated discussions about this at school recently!
AnonyMouse_4177
'Writing is conversation writted' 'Your speaking on the paper' Two comments from a little girl (4:5) in my nursery last year. I also recommend Exploring Writing and Play in the Early Years by Nigel Hall and Anne Robinson Chapter 5 made me feel particularly inadaquate!!(Wonderful case study of setting up a garage role play area) Posy

Guest
I've just bought 'Supporting Children's Writing Development in the Early Years' from Lawrence Educational Publications and it looks really good. It takes a child from before preschool through to end of Reception Year, with samples of his mark making/drawing/writing, describes what he does, indicates what his needs are and what the adult needs to do, and discusses the possible connections between one setting and another e.g. Home and Childminder's. Then there are pages of suggested activities etc.
