Guest
I am in the middle of my planning for next week and want to teach the children about camouflage. I have found some great websites to use for my carpet session but I am having trouble with the focus activity. I would like the children to create some sort of camouflage pictures but am not sure how to go about this. Any ideas?
AnonyMouse_4544
We have used toy jungle animals and asked the children to make a background for them to hide on using whatever materials they like. We also put different animal prints on the light box and gave the children cut out animals to hide on the patterns........so tigers and zebras on stripes leopards and giraffes on spots elephants and rhinos on grey etc if the children have experienced this it helps with their art work. Guest
I drew a chameleon, photocopied it, and gave the children patterened fabric, wrapping paper etc. Children chose how to "hide" their chameleon, whether it was with paint, crayons, chalk or collage. Some children went on to "hide" their chameleons by matching the colour to furniture (blue chairs, yellow tables, paintwork etc)
AnonyMouse_468
I found this lovely display whilst doing a search for something else. (Scroll down the page to "camouflage pictures". http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...active%26sa%3DN
Guest
I have downloaded pictures from the internet of animals with different colours and markings and then stuck them on paper. The children have to use pastels (cover a nice area and you can smudge them) in those colours only to decorate around the animal, trying to 'hide' it on the paper. Guest
Hi we did some lovely work last term using the story, 'The mixed up chameleon' by eric Carlie. The children were each given a piece of fur fabric ( spots and stripes) about 10cm by 10cm and they could stick in anywhere on the paper and then continue the pattern. they really loved this. we then made a small world tray using coloured wood chips to hide chameleons and lizards in. hope this helps!
