Steve Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Hi all - I posted the link to the DfES press announcement in the news area, but thought I'd better put it here (the EYFS area) as well. Find the press release here.
AnonyMouse_5677 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Is the document available to download yet? How do we get the hardcopy - can we order it now or will each school be sent one? Elfy
Guest Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Just ordered a copy on 0845 6022260 but told it wont be available until the 19th March. It is not yet on teachernet as a download - although the press release suggests it is!
Steve Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 Yes, I went looking through Teachernet but as kali says, it's not there yet. First to find it on the website and let people know here gets a doughnut.
Guest Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Just ordered my copy over phone. They didn't know whenit would be on web site!
AnonyMouse_3139 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Thank you. Now all I need is for the teachernet site to work properly! A doughnut???? I'm back on the case
Steve Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 Don't ever let it be said I don't hand out the goodies Rea!
AnonyMouse_4544 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/teachingandlearning/EYFS/ has some info and access to the CD rom. (maybe)
AnonyMouse_4495 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 First to find it on the website and let people know here gets a doughnut. That could be two doughnuts in one week - we are on a 'sliding scale' of doughnuts depending on how many completed applications we make to our grants panel this week... we have progressed past the dinky doughnuts and are on jam ones at the moment....
Guest Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Thanks for the link - just ordered my copy (and some for my colleagues too) really helpful chappy on the end of the phone - said they'd be sent out as soon as poss. Must be a sign of too much 'Pre School' - I'm actually looking forward to receiving it?!?!?!
Guest Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Is this worth a doughnut?? http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/eyfs/site/resource/pdfs.htm Actually, I don't like doughnuts since we did those silly games with them at youth club when you weren't allowed to lick your lips.... I was clearly damaged! Steve, you can eat mine if I win!
Guest Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 You can now download from the Teacher net link, it all appears to be there, lots of links to look at, lots of bedtime reading!
Steve Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 Well done Lisa - looks like you beat Milly by a nose. And the doughnut's already eaten now so it's too late to quibble about the decision! And I don't care about licking my lips.
Guest Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I just had a look at a few of the downloads and at first glance they seem to speak my language! Phew!! Take a look at http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/eyfs/reso.../card4_1_bw.pdf for instance.... clear, simple language, completely endorses our current practice. I love the references to superhero play and the last section about reflecting on our practice - this must strike a chord with all of us!!
AnonyMouse_4544 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Thanks LJW I was just thinking the same up to now my only complaint is they have kept the adult child ratio for reception classes at 1.30 (but we expected that didn't we)
AnonyMouse_4495 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Bit miffed that they have taken out 'holistic child' as this is important in early years. Some of the downloads from the teachernet website were a bit jargonistic - inclusion mentioned an 'egalitarian' approach
AnonyMouse_4544 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I can't get the unique child bit to open on either site anyone else having problems?
AnonyMouse_4544 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Thanks Milly its good to know its not me.
AnonyMouse_6361 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Ooooh I will order mine in the morning as I would perfer a hard copy to read at my lesuire. Well just think of the ink I would use if I printed it all out. Thanks Steve, definately alot of bedtime reading. Something else to read on top of my coursework, trainning for Race for Life in June and working. Beth
Guest Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Marion & Millie. I could only open 3 of the 4 cards. 1st one didn't work.
AnonyMouse_2776 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Thanks for the updates ! There is one page that I can't download: Card 1.1 – A Unique Child – Child Development . Do you have the same problem ?
AnonyMouse_2846 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 yes i am having problems with that one too!
AnonyMouse_7969 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Do you need an order number/publication number to order the EYFS or can you just ask for it when you request a copy from DFES?
Guest Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 (edited) Hi Diane, They asked me if I had a ref number this morning when I ordered mine and I said I didn't but it didn't matter and I was only on the phone 2 mins so you don't need one however someone else might know what the order number is. Welcome to the forum Edited March 13, 2007 by Guest
