Guest Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 We only have bikes out two or three times a week. How do I manage children having turns. The boys seem to dominate this area. Would ove some suggestions!
AnonyMouse_1027 Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 we use timers for the children, works well
Guest Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 We use chairs, same amount as there is bikes. they have to sit and wait and keep a list of who has had a go. If its the same ones hogging them send them off to allow others a turn. When every one has had a go repeat list if you have time. Use a timer or stop watch with a set time. Great turn taking game.
AnonyMouse_1469 Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 we have this problem from time to time, so i now ensure the 'hogs' go to the back of the queue before we go out and those in front choose first (I do, of course, allow the hogs to be first from time to time!!)
Guest Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 There was another post along similar lines recently with lots os ideas for managing children's turns on the bikes. http://www.foundation-stage.info/forums/in...73&hl=bikes
Guest Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 timers are the best invention ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we have had in the past lots of angry and sad children wanting turns on bikes and it is so difficult to wait?? the children have learnt to use them themselves, its a great way for them to learn to take turns without any fuss!!! and we know have a lovely calm nursery????????????????
Guest Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Ensure that there are loads of other really exciting things to do elsewhere in the garden!!
AnonyMouse_705 Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Could you have them out more often? The quickest way to move a child on is to let them do more of the same. If you're children are anything like ours, they love the bikes, it meets their needs. We have divided our outside area in two, dvivided by a line which the bikes/cars do not go over. So one side for boisterous play, one for all the other activities. We also use sand timers which are great.
Guest Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 We use the sand timers, they actually work very well, children manage them themselves but our problem now is a pink bike we have had donated, all the girls will only go on the pink bike, ahhhh!!!!!!!
