Hi Weavers,
Following on from the popularity of our SEND framework and the interest in the new Cherry Garden framework, which will be fully available before the next academic year, this month we released our first ever SEND newsletter! We thought this would be helpful so we could provide you with more information about the Cherry Garden framework and also bring together some of the resources we have available to help you observe and assess SEND children.
In this newsletter, we also introduced Stephen Kilgour, who was instrumental in adding the Cherry Garden framework to Tapestry and will be working for us as a SEND advisor and outreach teacher.
If you are interested in reading the newsletter to see these resources and find out more about what Stephen will be doing for us, you just need to follow this link.
New Webinars
As the end of the academic year approaches, to help you with your end of year process on Tapestry, we’ve scheduled in some of our free webinars. These are run remotely by one of the team sharing their screen with you and talking you through the different areas of Tapestry which relate to the topic of the webinar. These webinars also a great chance for you to ask any questions you have about Tapestry.
The ones we’ve scheduled in specifically focusing on the end of year process are:
- End of year EYFS Tracking on Tapestry - Thursday 27th June 4pm
- End of year KS1/2 Tracking on Tapestry - Tuesday 2nd July 4pm
- End of year transition (EYFSP) - Thursday 4th July 4pm
- Sorting your Tapestry account at the end of the year (managers only) - Friday 5th July 4pm
To find out more information about the webinars, what they will cover, how we run them and how to sign up to them, you can either visit our Webinars page here or you can get in touch with us by emailing customer.service@eyfs.info.
New GLD Screen
To help those of you working in reception with your end of year data tracking, we have added a new GLD screen to Tapestry. This will show you whether children are reaching a Good Level of Development across the 5 areas: PSED, CL, PD, L and M, based on your EYFSP submission.
You’ll be able to use this screen to see whether children have individually reached a Good Level of Development and it will also provide you with the overall percentage of the group of children you have selected that have a Good Level of Development.
Some of you may be aware that we did already have a GLD screen on Tapestry. We have now renamed this to the ‘Performance Standard’ screen to avoid any confusion. The reason we added this new GLD screen is because the GLD calculation is actually based on your EYFSP submission at the end of the year and our previous GLD screen based this on targets you set yourself. Aside from the fact that we couldn’t have two screens with the same name, we felt that the name ‘performance standard’ better represented what this screen shows.
This tutorial talks you through where to find the new GLD screen and how you can use it.

Feature Focus: Merging Children
We know at this time of year as children move between settings, it’s possible for a child to end up with two profiles in the same account. This can happen if a setting starts a profile for a child and that child is then transferred from a different Tapestry account.
If you haven’t added any observations for one of the children’s profiles, then you can just delete this account by following this tutorial, but if both profiles have observations on then you won’t want to delete either as this will also delete the linked observations. In this scenario, what you can do is merge the two accounts together. This will ensure all the observations are linked to one account and will hopefully mean there is no confusion on your account!
If you have ended up with more than 2 profiles for a child, then you will need to repeat this process of merging two of the accounts until you are left with just one. When going through this process, do be careful to ensure you have selected the two correct children to merge as it’s not possible for you to un-do this.
To merge children on your account, you just need to follow this tutorial. If you need any extra assistance with it, please get in touch with us by emailing tapestry.support@eyfs.info.
