Hi Weavers,
It's Tapestry’s birthday! On 1st October Tapestry is seven years old.
From our perspective that seems hard to believe. Time has flown by as over the last seven years we have worked to refine, improve and extend Tapestry. We're fortunate in having a close relationship with you, our customers, which has been enormously helpful in guiding us towards new innovative functionality.
We’re not done yet though! We have a long list of great features in the pipeline and over the last year we have been developing a major new feature called Reflections, which we will be releasing this month. This is a Tapestry function designed to help you with your reflective practice.
To stay informed about the release of Reflections and supporting materials such as tutorials, video guidance and articles, make sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
Updates about the new apps
We are very grateful for all the feedback we’ve received so far about the new iOS and Android apps. Our app developers are still working to improve them, with lots of updates having gone out in the last few weeks. To make sure you are using the most up to date version, please do check your Play/App store for updates. Alternatively, you can get in touch with us by emailing tapestry.support@eyfs.info and our support team will be happy to confirm these for you.
If you have any ideas or feedback about the new apps, please do get in touch with us using the email above.
We're changing banks
Next month our bank details will be changing as we are moving banks. Once this change has happened, all our invoices will be updated, and we will be contacting all managers on Tapestry to inform them. We’ve already been in touch with many local authorities to let them know.
There’s no need for you to do anything yet but do remember to check our details on your next invoice.
If you pay your invoices by cheque, then please do note we do also have a new business address. This can also be found on all our invoices.
Tapestry Staff News
This month we were delighted to have a new member of staff join us, Lydia. She will be working as our Digital Marketing Manager. Please do join us in giving her a very warm welcome.
Feature Focus: Baselines and MAPs
In this month’s Feature Focus we will be focusing on not one, but two features! One for EYFS and one is for KS1 and KS2. They both help you track children’s development and progress throughout the year. Let’s start by looking at the feature for EYFS.
EYFS Baseline
This EYFS Baseline allows you to assess where children are at the beginning of the year as a starting point. You can then use this to track how they are progressing throughout the year, using the baseline as the start point.
It’s not necessary to add a baseline term to your assessment periods as on Tapestry there is a dedicated section that will allow you to input this information. This tutorial will talk you through where you can find this and how you can input children’s baselines.
KS1 and KS2 Maps
MAP on Tapestry stands for Maintained Achievement Point. You can set these at the beginning of the year for the KS1 and KS2 frameworks. MAPs are different from baselines in EYFS, as children aren’t expected to move away from their MAP score, but rather this is where teachers expect children to be throughout the year. This therefore allows you to see whether children are working on track during the year.
Once children’s MAP scores have been set, you can see these on the Formative Assessment screen you help you inform your assessment. Their scores will also be used on some of the tracking screens to show attainment and progression.
To learn how to enable the KS1 and KS2 frameworks on your account and set MAPs for children you can follow the tutorials linked below.
