Hi Well a couple of weeks ago we had our OFSTED registration visit. It was 3 hours long but there was myself (manager), chair and nominated person. It was a good experience. She saw the hall which we are to use and realised just what we are up against ie nothing to be left out on walls. It was good also to get some advice and information from her. What she did say was that it would not be possible to get outstansing at our first inspection as it would be within 6 months for the reason that it would be very difficult to show that the chidren had made progress. So to those that didi get it....well done!!! M

I need to send a health declaration booklet but don't know where to send it. On form it says send in prepaid envelope but ofsted told me to download so I don't have an envelope provided like they are suggesting! I phoned and they said to get docs to fax or email but docs are saying they can't do that! Shall I just post to their normal address do you think? Thought I would ask here first before trying to phone again!

Hello We have a lot of students in our setting, some good and some bad. One of them has very little knowledge of our policies and procedures, not from receiving information but refusing to take on board and she has admitted that she does not need to know this stuff because it isn't in her course.....weird! But what my question is.... When we have an inspection, will the inspector ask students questions about policies and procedures who are not worked into the ratio???? Thanks

Just had our inspection (finally) following an unsubstantiated complaint and the inspector came up with an action of creating the natural world in our outdoor space which is totally wall to wall concrete with an iron fence! We were inspected 11 months ago and nothing was said on that inspection - so why now? We can't leave anything outside as it is destroyed by the local thugs I am left pondering how we are going to do this? I have a wall of photographs showing the children outside doing various things such as collecting conkers, exploring/jumping in muddy puddles. collecting leaves etc. as we have access to a large field where we go for walks sometimes, but she obviou…

Can I ask how much input is required from a chairperson during an inspection, what if the chairperson is unavailable during an inspection ? What happens if none of a committee are available during an inspection ?

Just wondering if everybody undertakes accredited health and safety training in your setting or does the manager do it and share information?

Hi I have just logged onto the Ofsted website to download our last report and have noticed that the complaint/compliance letter that has been on there for our setting since 2010 has now been removed!?! Has anyone else experienced this? I expected that this would always stay on our record and am unsure of why it would have been removed. It was definitely there the last time i looked about a month ago. We have had 2 inspections since the complaint, the last in April 2013, so i cant imagine it would have been removed as a result of an inspection. I have also had a look at other settings local to us who received a complaint at around the same time and their enforceme…

my two grand daughters recently started at a childminder - one is a funded three year old the other is paid for - anyway the question is how much information do you as a childminder give to parents about what the children have done during the day - where they have been, what they have eaten etc my daughter is having lots of problems getting any info from her about their day - texting her to ask her about their day as i pick them up from the childrminder but she doesnt really get much of a reply. also my grand daughter attends pre-school and i know that they have given her a copy of her next steps - what should the pre-school expect from her? what should she be doing …

Help - just had Ofsted!

Just had my Ofsted inspection as a childminder but they could not award a grade as my husband was teaching music in another room in the house. I explained that his students do not ever come into contact with the children I look after and most of the time we go out when he is teaching, so there is no conflict of interests. Now I don't know where I stand and have to wait to hear whether I can still operate as a childminder - has anyone else had any similar problems? Many thanks.
