As one of the many people on here, who works incredibly hard and successfully to have a happy and stimulating pre-school can any inspectors reading this give us an idea of when inspections finish before Christmas?. We are so, so overdue and it is always at the back of our minds, is today the day?? Not that this would make any difference to our practice or provision. I just think it would be quite nice for the last two weeks to just relax ever so slightly and just enjoy being with the children at this magical time. To be totally honest half of our planning was not achieved last week because of craft activities, nativity sorting and just generally going with the needs o…

Hi I am currently waiting for Ofsted as an unwarranted complaint was made against us. Ofsted found no cause for concern and saw it for what it was, but of course there has to be an inspection. Our outside area is rather uninspiring in that it is concrete with a fence and gate surrounding it. That's it! We can't leave anything outside as it always gets vandalised. Even small objects go missing or plants get stamped on. We have found when it's raining (hard) most of the children want to come back inside. There are those that love standing under the leaking guttering and jumping in the puddles but they are a minority and of course then you get parents complaining it's…

I know, I know, I should get a life! Was just wondering what would happen if Ofsted turned up on Nativity or party day when nothing was as normal? Has it happened to anyone? Presumably they couldn't assess the whole of your provision properly, even though they would see lots of happy smiling children! Not expecting them, BTW.....

Hi everyone, We are a 2 year old provision setting within a school and we had our pre-registration visit in the summer. Now we are looking towards our post registration check and I can't find anything that tells me what happens at this check! Is it a proper inspection with a report and grading etc? I apologise if there is already a thread related to this, but I have looked - maybe my brain is just fried! Thanks in advance x

Morning all, I have a number of staff that have never been in a nursery when an inspection has taken place. Like others I'm over due, (sitting at 4 years now). So, I want to make a simple factsheet for my staff to have to hand one what ofsted will look for/ask/what they should do? Any pointers in addition to the recent post made by the lady had her first inspection at the beginning of September? Thanks in advance Once complete I am happy to share it with you all!!!

Hi, I am starting a new role as CC qualified teacher. Can anyone help me with planning? I will not see the same children every week. How and how much do I record of what I observe? Do I plan the next session from what happened at the previous one? I hope so. What use do I make of Development Matters? I need to offer guidance and planning help to child minders and other local per school providers; all my previous experience has been with school aged FS 1 and FS2 children. If anyone has any paperwork which would help me I would be very grateful. Thanks a lot.

Hi this is the first time i have used the forum and i hope someone out there can help me and possibly give me some advice. I recently had my food hygiene ispection and the result was that i will not be able to serve any cooked meals on the premises due to my downstairs toilet opening onto the kitchen. Is there anything i can do about this because i think this is going to stop me getting customers i would of if i could serve the meals. I rent the property so knocking down walls is not an option. Any ideas welcome please and thanks in advance.

Hi all I hope this is ok but I just need to get this off my chest. I don't know if I should laugh hysterically or cry! we were inspected at the end of June have only just got our report (we are shut now and everyone on holiday which is making addressing the issues rather hard) We are a setting that runs out of the community hall and have been told that we have satisfactory across the board BUT one notice to improve by 31st July in terms of reducing the noise level in the hall. This is quite hard as the hall is big and echoey we have lowered the ceiling and removed the stage, we constantly ask children to use indoor voices but short of changing the venue of the…
