Outstanding in all areas in a pack away setting, committee run with NO Ofsted SEF in place! Many will be aware I left the setting about year ago now having implemented EYFS with them set up planning etc and they took it all up and ran with it.. There have been changes over the last year with environment as money became available from employing EYP, which I never had, but they had their inspection recently and got outstanding in all areas.. I am so pleased for them. ( previously outstanding in one and good all others!) As I have often said Ofsted SEF is not mandatory , and they chose to go with their own form of self evaluation which is ongoing docume…

We have just had our inspection and we got a satisfactory rating. She would have marked us as a good for safeguarding had she not seen the bruise on the mindees face. We told her that yes we should have got that put down in the file. She marked us for 3 goods. 2 of them were Working in partnership with parents, (something that they are hot on at the moment) and the rare one for first inspections being working in partnership with others. I.e. Nursery. Our mindee was an absolute gem. He doesn't normally like us singing out of the stay and play's he normally puts his hands on our mouth. I've recently clocked that if he's singing it's ok to sing too. So I did. She sai…

I Planned The Day Off Until......

I arrived at the setting and Mrs O was waiting for me! I was just popping in to make sure everything was ship shape and planned to take the day off and meet a friend (someone I havent seen for 12 years) however I quickly changed my plans and was Ofsteded instead! I had a lovely inspector who spent half a day in the room and half a day in the office with me, she went through everything and I mean every file we have and my office looked like a bomb site when she left! The relief is unbelievable - I havent had a day off for two years because I have been waiting for them to arrive and I can now have a day off! My inspector was lovely, and the whole experience…

Can anyone let me know how long the inspector usually visits for. We are a sessional Pre-school that is open from 9 - 1 Mon, Wed and Fri and 9-3 Tues and Thurs. Last time she stayed for a morning and then half of the next morning. I am just trying to work out whether the visit was more likely to be on a Tues or Thursday as we are open longer. I know....... ............I shouldn't keep thinking about it ...........they will come when they are ready and no amount of me constantly thinking about it will make any difference !!! Sue J

I got the call today from a lady asking about the ages of the children I look after, the days I had them and what days am I not available in the next 3 weeks. She said to expect a call from the inspector within the next 3 weeks. Is there some sort of tick list that I have to go through or something? what are they looking for?

Well today was the day Mrs O arrived. I was several miles away when I got the call but it didn't matter! Mrs O was one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to meet and she was a seriously good, honest and fair inspector. The process was short all done and dusted in a few hours. Feedback during the afternoon session and mrs O gone before the children left at the end of the day. I am feeling very happy and wish you all the inspector we had today Operational plan and up to date SEF played a big part Right now I can't think of a single negative thing to say about today's inspection experience, it was really just as I have always thought it should be

Less than a week after our inspection and our report arrived today and we got OUTSTANDING! We are absolutely thrilled, the report is brilliant. The inspector really got the ethos of our setting and could see beyond our crummy hired building! She has even mentioned my floor books of which I am very proud of

Bit of a random question! I have been reading a few inspection reports and 'safeguarding' seems to be a high priority(and quite rightly so i think!) However a phrase I keep coming across in relation to staff's knowledge of safeguaring issues includes referring to the confidence of staff in relation to "working in partnership with other agencies to protect children." It got me thinking and wonder which outside agencies you consider we work in partnership with to safeguard the children in our care. I am 'off sick' at the moment and still don't feel 100% and wonder if my brain is not working. Right now I can only think of Social Care, Police, and CRB people but…
