Does anyone know if there is a maximum number of children per room/group? I know there used to be a limit but am not sure whether it still exists. I have two rooms - one for 26 x 3-5yrs and another for 8 x 2 yrs. I am thinking of opening these rooms up and making it into one big one. My registration is for 34 children from 2 - 8 yrs so would it be possible to have them mixed together in one room ( obviously the ratios would still be the same)? Any advice or knowledge, I would be greatful thanks.

Hi there I have just had confirmation that my deputy manager will not be returning following her maternity leave. So, I would like to appoint the temporary deputy manager into an official deputy manager! Does anybody know whether I need to declare this to Ofsted and whether we need to complete any paperwork like the EY2?? Any advice is appreciated

On Sunny's behalf, let's work out the order of this queue and see how slack Ofsted are being about doing their job. We were due last May so 8 months over, not sure if I can vote in my own poll?

I would just like to share some good news with everybody on here. Just before Christmas we had our OFSTED inspection and I am pleased to announce that we have now recieved 'OUTSTANDING' in every area!!! We are all so happy with the mark given and can see that all our hard work has been noticed. We are 'The Haven Nursery' and are located in Portsmouth, so if you know of any parents looking for childcare in Portsmouth please pass our name on to them, thank you and good luck to everybody else waiting on their inspection Happy New Year!!!!

A lovely lady from Ofsted went to playgroup today, she arrived about 10.30 I got there about 1pm. She chatted about everything, her elderly mother, childrens GCSE choices and early years. She used to run a pack away setting How fab was that? She was so happy with everything she saw, didnt ask me anything to do with committee side of things and I'd taken just about eveything that would fit inside a big bag and a massive folder, and she didnt ask the playleader much either. I left before feedback but it was all really positive. Well done to all the staff, I'm sure a good in all areas wouldnt be too much to expect when the report comes.

Silly question, but.... You've answered the door decided you really have to let them in (even though you don't want to!) Got them to sign the visitors book Then what?????? Do you get on with your day to day stuff, or do you ask them what they want you to do? Really silly questions I know, but our next inspection is due next month and I'm now 'in charge'

Ofsted Dreams!

I had ANOTHER Ofsted dream last night (or should I say nightmare?) In this one, a huge digger suddenly appeared and starting hacking up our outdoor tarmac area. We then had to freeflow around a huge hole in the ground. Then I managed to sneak a look at the inspector's notes, and she had put us 'inadequate' for something and 'outstanding' for a few other things. I managed to find out that the 'inadequate' was for the children's safety, because I had put a cup of tea on the radiator. What on earth is going on in my brain? Has anyone ever had a more outlandish ofsted dream?

Ofsted phoned today (well, Tribal something or other, whatever they are now) to say they are coming tomorrow for my suitable person interview. What does this involve? She says she'll interview me for an hour and a half! Any advice from anyone who's been through this please....
