Currently completing FDEY and its got me really thinking Do other pack away pre-schools set up their session the same every day? By this I mean in same areas/zones not just resourses used. Also outside - Do you set up in any way ? I have read some people have table top activities outside in the summer what else do you do? I am a pack away and I have found this really interesting evaulating the why we do etc? We do not set up the same every day as the children vary so much each session so we tend to go with their needs. However we do have the snack bar and sink area in the same place, also the coat and wellie area. But table and mates etc are varied daily. …

I was watching this on the news yesterday and have to say I was appalled to learn the setting had only a few months previously received a'Good' report while the review found so many negative things to say about it. We got a 'satisfactory' last time because we werent displaying the complaints poster. Never mind that we keep records, make sure staff are trained in CP, have roles defined, work closely with advisors and take onboard new ideas, recruit following employment and safeguarding guildlines and have a code of conduct that would prevent the language she is said to have used. Ofsted say they have already implemented changes, well I should think so too. Lets hope…

Letter From Ofsted

We have received a letter/form from Ofsted asking us to update our opening hours so in turn they can update their records. The form is mainly tick boxes saying days and sessions of opening. Has anyone else had one of these? Just wondering if this could be the rumbling of an inspection? We were last inspected in Feb 08 but haven't been inspected under the EYFS.

We are a privately owned nursery, and hopefuly completing the kite mark, so today a lady came round observing our interactions with the children, the enviroment and so on. When she looked at our rota for nappy changing she commented that ther was no need for a rota because ir should be the key person changing their child and change them wheb we think they need it. Ofetad regulation does any othet seeting do this as my argument was we like changing all the children as it gives u acloser bnd to all the children not just our own, and say for example you had prepared an activity for ur child to support their learning, what stop .

We have had the visit from Mrs O! It was quite intense but the inspector was very nice and knew her stuff! She concentrated on Self evaluation/self improvement planning and Leadership and Management Think we are first in our area to be inspected since they went to the different companies, so am relieved we had a quality inspector (not for one minute am I saying they wouldn't be!

One of my responsibilities in school is art/ design......in my PM meeting today the head asked if i would carry out a staff meeting all about Art and Design......she wants me to set all the teachers a challenge.....send them off and bring them back together to discuss what they have achieved..... I'm just wondering if there is any art/design subject leaders out there who can give me some advice....what should I do a staff meeting on and has anyone done one before that they kindly would share? Uggh! What's happened to the Ofsted inspections page? I was trying to indulge in my favourite pastime of reading other people's inspection reports for top tips. In the previous system you could view each county and see who was the most recently inspected setting and least recently inspected with date of inspection alongside. I have phoned Ofsted and send off a complaining email. Feel free to join me! Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells
