The inspector has posted the wrong report for my setting. She promised faithfully, after we challenged her intial report because it didn't match up to what she said, and she's still posted it. She also claims we weren't recording medication administering, but we were, we had omitted the time medicine was actually given, so that has impacted on everything else. I'm so disappointed; our Area Senco couldn't understand why we didin't get a smattering of 1s, my EYPS assessor thought we'd got outstanding; I can't tell you how sad I am this report will be hanging over us for the next 3 years. I've been reading through others reports and they've acheived 1s depsite having a…

Anyway the LA have told us we have done really well and should get 'good', BUT Mrs O has told us we need more structure, we have too much room ,the children are wandering about as we have not provided them with toys to play with,we shoud zone areas and structure their day by giving them several activtiy card each morning that they are expected to do. Feeling Overwhelmed

I am a chairperson of a sessional preschool, not paid just a volunteer and I am feeling overwhelmed by the idea of ofsted visiting. Our last inspection was 3 years ago in a few weeks, we have had 2 chairs and 2 managers since then and 2 notifiable incidents and yet they still haven't been!! Why???? Our current manager leaves in 2 weeks leaving us managerless for the last 3 weeks of term. I am not a happy bunny. I feel like this is a full time job before I even start on the grant applications, planning permission applications and other stuff to do with trying to get out of the church hall! Oh well I think that is moan over - thank you

Risk Assessment
by Guest- 9 replies

Hi I am relatively new to nursery- 1 term and have realised that no risk assessments have been carried out other than very informal daily checking eg no rubbish/ broken glass in the outdoor classroom. I don't know where to start.. I have read the article on risk assessment from 2005 but would really welcome the chance to look at another nursery's assessments if anyone had any that were easy to share... Thankyou! Mogs67

Help. We are a pre-school on a school site, OFSTED inspecting the school today but we have not been done this week or today. My previous experience is that groups are usually done just before the school or at the same time. Am I right or has anybody had a differnet experience. We are so ready and were convinced it would be today and just want it over. I have also notified OFSTED that I am away on Friday and that has been passed onto the inspection team but am now really worried they will turn up on that day anyway. Really do not want the inspection to happen without me. Anyone got any ideas or had previous experience of this situation that they could advise me. Sor…

I went on a course today, where an actual Ofsted inspector gave the training on inspection and what to expect, how to fill in the SEF form, and loads more. We also got loads of information and resources to use. He emphasied on using ECM in planning and observation. He was a lovely man and after a while we just sort of forgot that he was an inspector! This course is worth going on the cost is £500, but wait don't panic you just fill in a form and you will get it free of charge it is government funded, if anyone is interested call them on 01223 224929 and ask for THE EYFS INSPECTION SUPPORT PROGRAMME, the lady's name is Vicky Shipton lovely lady.
