I don't know if you remember, but back in June I was thrilled with the Ofsted inspection that gave us a GOOD grade, having previously had an INADEQUATE (from before I joined). Phew! Well, the early year advisory teacher phoned today to warn us that the primary school (who's site we are on) is due an inspection any day and it is now Ofsted's policy to inspect all premises on the site, regardless of when they were last inspected. Which means we may be inspected again! Has anyone else had this? I feel confident that we are even better now than we were in June, but a little part of me thinks' what if we don't have such a nice inspector, who is lookng for dfferent thin…

Hi all Got the phone call Monday and they came Thursday. I'm in the Reception class. Results aren't official untl next week but I am very happy. Will post results when I can. Just a few tips. They didn't ask for any records just very keen to see what we do in practice. Therefore I would suggest having all evidence gathering methods on the go, e.g. long observations were on a clipboard waiting to go, post its on the observation board, planning on the wall. The inspector spent a lot of time reading the planning on the wall and looking at the ovservation wall. The inspector left my room and I thought that was it, I got the camera out as we had a mum helping at…

Hi, Was just wondering if anyone can give me any ideas on what ofsted might ask nursery staff. I was a childminder for 10 years so do have some experience of ofsted, but have only worked in a nursery for 4 months and they will be due an inspection soon. So any help would be great. Thanks Luv Tracey xx

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share our good news with you all, our Pre-school re-registered in June last year and become a Community Interest Company as I thought I would go it alone without a committee. We operate from a Village Hall and a maximum of 26 children aged 2-5 may attend any one session. Two days before we broke up for Christmas we had a knock on the door and our Ofsted Inspection started!! I must say that our Inspector is very nice and we have built up a good relationship with her. Anyway I can officially inform you all that we recieved OUTSTANDING!!. We are just so happy and elated and of course I just want to shout it from the roof tops. I had …

Hi all Well to say I feel deflated this morning is an understatement! Monday morning as I arrived at pre-school two Ofsted inspectors were waiting. After all our hard work over the summer spending weeks researching formats, looking at implementing child initiated activities and deciding the best path for us to take we went back to work determined to meet the challenge of EYFS. As you will all know the first few weeks can be hard when you have new starters and our plan was to settle the children into pre-school over the first two weeks then really begin to implement our planning. You guessed it the first morning this was due to occur Ofsted were at the door. We had thre…

Well I can't sleep because of all the things going round in my head about starting in January lol so thought I would get some out What do you think ofsted's views would be if I devised a simple self evaluation form for each member of staff to regularly fill in? just with things like how they think they do certain areas of the jobs, what they would like to do more of/less of, if they would like to do more training etc If it would be a plus then i'd like to do it but if ofsted wouldn't really bother looking at it then i won't rush into it and give everyone more paperwork already.

Hello I have just opened my new nursery which is underpinned by the Reggio Emilia philosophy. I would appreciate any advice on completion of the Ofsted SEF. Many thanks. Stephanie
