by Guest- 27 replies

And I just can't keep the news to myself any longer - we have moved from 'Inadequate with notice to improve' to GOOD!!!! I am so happy, all our hard work has paid off!! I don't know if you remember but I started as 'acting manager' at the preschool back in March, after the inadequate ruling and then became 'Manager' a few weeks ago. So I also had my Suitability Interview and passed that too.

Ofsted Report

This email came today. Thought I'd pass it on. Al I am pleased to send you the link to our new report, Early years: Leading to excellence. I hope you will find this helpful. Leading to excellence is in two parts. Part one reviews childcare and early years provision at the end of our three-year cycle of inspections. It shows that overall providers are doing well and are getting better. However, it also shows that there is still much provision that is not good enough and there is too much variation in quality across the sector. Weaknesses include occasions where procedures for checking adults’ suitability are inadequate. Part two describes good prac…

Hello all! I have been a member on this site for a little while now and feel almost addicted!! I am a qualified teacher who bought a pre-school business last July. The pre-school was VERY 'old school' (e.g. writing books, no free choice of equipment, art activities that were basically done for the parents which all the children HAD to do - get the picture??!!) and I have worked REALLY hard throughout this year trying to update it, although having to tread very carefully at the same time as the 3 previous owners stayed on to work there. I thought Ofsted would have joined us early in Sept as I was a new suitable person but no....until today! To cut a long story sh…

Ok, so in April ofsted came to inspect us and were apologetic as they knew we would be closing in May!!!! So, we open the new setting in May and I have the biggest learning curve so everything is in its place and I am trying to get the routines in place as we have never done anything like this before (never again thank heavens). Following advice from my EYAT, I was asked to phone in advance and see if ofsted could put a timescale on the next inspection. This is because I explained that putting the old curriculum to our new setting is going to be incredibly hard and my EYAT stated that she agreed...I need to train up my staff with the EYFS! So the phone ca…
