HI well since we are under new ownership we know we will be insepcted in the next seven months. I am feeling slightly miffed off as we got good on education and good on care last september, so feel slightly cheated that we are being inspected again so soon. Ofsted lady didn't know whether we would only have a care side to inspection or a full inspection. to me it seems mad, i mean the management of staffing has not change, just a new owner.... so let the stress begin..... saying that i have booked Tuesday and Friday off next week, last time when ofsted came i was on holiday, so maybe, just maybe, they may come when im having my day off wish us all l…

Ofsted recently published their guidance on the voluntary part of the new Childcare Register, which may have been posted on the forum already? (see links below) RequirementsforthevoluntarypartoftheCR_110707.pdf guideToRegistration_voluntaryChildcareRegister.doc infoForParents_CarersUsingChildcare.doc Leaving personal thoughts aside about the validity of the register and how it is going to be implemented, it appears to make sense with the different classification of childcare provision and their individual duties to comply. However, as I read through it, I thought that it was a bit confusing, so I have put each statement into a table format. We are doing some c…

Heard this during our last inspection, it made me chuckle There was a farmer in a field with his sheep. A woman approached him, “if I tell you how many sheep you have in your field will you give me any sheep of my choosing” she said. “Yes” he said “I will”. The woman went back to her car working out the numbers on her laptop. A few hours later she came back, “you have 1,527 sheep” she said, “That’s correct you can choose any sheep you want” said the farmer. On her way out of the field the farmer said “if I tell you what job you do will you give me back what you have taken?” “Why yes” she said. “You are an OFSTED inspector” he said, “Wow! How did you know” said the…

What a great start to the Summer holidays - yes our Report has arrived!!!!! Whoopee - it's official we got OUTSTANDING for both care and education at our Ofsted a few weeks ago (yep, well we got that last October too, but never received the report ), so had to undergo another full blown Inspection - be warned - Ofsted don't seem to have any system in place if one of their Inspectors goes off on long term sick leave!! I have been busy reading and re- reading it - will have tea and probably re-read it again! Great to have it now, so that the parents who supported us through 2 Inspections in less than 9 months can celebrate with us before their children move on to big sc…

Browsing the Ofsted website looking for something else, I noticed that they have a new poster to be displayed in early years settings - issued on 24 May, 2007. I can download it but there doesn't seem to be a link to order a hard copy. Don't want to use my ink! Anybody got any suggestions where I can get one? Hopefully this is a link to the Ofsted poster. http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/portal/site/Inter...CRD&alpha=E

Yep - all done, and I did ask the Inspector was she in good health and was she planning to take any sick leave whilst writing up our report (she took it in very good humour) - I'm feeling really tired, and don't know whether to laugh or cry - BUT once again we received a brilliant inspection report - we're not to tell anyone the judgement until it's 'official' bur I can tell you we got exactly the same as last Oct when our report went awol (so for those of you who don't know our situation and what we were last given - both care and education received the same grade again, check out previous threads in the Index from me under the heading of Inspections) - so, by not actua…

Hi everyone Just wondering whether anyone has -or know's where i can find- an every child matters checklist, something similar to what an inspector uses during an inspection. I'm starting to panic now as although we are well on the way to improving our nursery education, i feel i haven't paid much attention to the care side of things and it has been 5 months since the inspection and they will be back again soon. I would be most grateful if anyone could point me ion the right direction

We have been told we are being 'done again' and are waiting for the knock at the door - could it be tomorrow? Has anyone had an Inspector arrive on a Friday and then return on the Monday? HI our old nursery has been sold, the new owners are in the process of completing registration (still in old registration for now). I have had to complete another DC2 form and one of the new owners is under the impression that i will have to have another suitability interview, even though i have already had one less than a year ago. I will still be manager so its only the owners changing also because the nursery is under new ownership are we likely to be inspected again?, last inspection was september 2006 and we received a good on both education and care. any ideas anyone. Dawn

hi guys, we currently provide care for less than two hours a day, and werent reistered with Ofsted. However just before i started as manager we decided we wanted to extend hours, so began the registration process. I just want to know if we have to wait to get the certificate before we can provide longer hours or whether we can start doing it. the setting has had its registration visit and all that was needed was a suitably qualified manager which is now in place (me). hope someone can help. thanks. xx
